This is the latest addition to my collection. Its made from the knuckle bone of a sheep and is 5 inches long. Most reference books refer to these items as eighteenth century apple corers but an article I read suggested that they were made over a longer period of time and were more lightly used by old people with no teeth to scoop out the apple. Apparently in some places it was an old country trick to extract all of the apple through one hole in the skin.
Brilliant!! :-)
