This adjustable dove tail marker made in brass was a birthday present from my father about 10 years ago. Best present I got that year. No makers mark, just a patent number 29191. 3.5 inches across when closed.

It's called a Murray's Expanding Dovetail Gauge. #84 on this auction sheet.
