Here are 2 related tools whose purpose might not be very obvious. Does anyone want to figure out what they are for before I post the answer. The pliers is 6 inches long, the other tool is 6 .5 inches.
Surprised nobody even took a guess at these. They could be classed as leather tools and were used by a handbag or purse maker. If the u-shaped channel of the metal frame was too tight then the pliers was used to widen it enough to receive the leather. The flat tool was used to help ease the leather into the channel which was then pinched closed with another type of pliers which I do not have.
