The German helmets, one being an M-35 model, and the other an M-40 model, were found near the outskirts of Volgograd, formerly known as Stalingrad in the 1990's. The M-40 has a schrapnel hole near the helmets vent hole. Both helmets still show traces of white camouflage paint, used for winter warfare. They were found in a German trench line along with the German army belt buckle, and bayonet scabbord. The Walther P-38 was found in Berlin in the early 1960's as construction workers were digging a foundation for a new building. The ammo clip is loaded, and the safety lever was in the fire position when the pistol was lost. It was probably lost during the Battle for Berlin against the Soviets. The bakelite grips are still in good condition after being buried for nearly twenty years.

Stepback, What do you know about Lugers? My Great uncle is a WWII US Army Veteran 1943-1946, He brought back tons of souvenirs. And sometimes doesn't like to talk about what he saw. He was a tank receiver. Anyway, He still has the German Luger that he got off a German. I have not seen it in person, But It has a swastika on the grip. He has 2 clips for it. Any idea what brand of service it would have been in? or Can you tell me any more about it? He might be coming out to Minnesota soon, Id like to have him bring it along, and possibly see if it would still fire.

Driewer, I never saw a Luger with a swastika, but possibly someone had custom grips put on. I have seen Walther PPK's with an eagle clutching a swastika. Lugers were used in all branches of the service. I hope this helps.

It might be a P38, But he did say Luger, I believe I seen one at the local Military museum, It had a moderate size swastika on the grip, It either a extremely rare Luger, or its a p38, I didn't pay too much attention at the time. My uncle is the man who picked it up off the dead German more the likely, Since he brought it home from the war I'll have to ask him. He had a good eye when it came to picking up sueveneers!

My Other uncles said when he came back he filled the kitchen table full of Nazi Stuff. haha

Thanks for the advice Stepback! I appreciate it!
