I found this little footed vase at an antique shop.It is about 4 inches wide by 3.5 inches high. It has a crackle finish and is heavily guided.
I have no other history on it and I wonder if it is satsuma or a modern imitation. There are no markings on it.
Nice satsuma piece mid 19th century Japanese not a modern imitation. It is probably Kyoto satsuma. Looks like it could be Gosu blue decorated I am not positive.
Thank you, it does feel special!
I wonder if it was meant to have a cover?
Yes it would of had a pierced lid of some type. Sometimes a metal cover made of silver or bronze or ceramic or wood. I have seen them in a number of ways. You might be able to find one that fits or find a wood worker or metal worker to make one for you. I would have a lid made for it but that is me.
Now I am in search of a cover!
Thank you for your input!
well Grendel is a genius ,it was also the first thing i was thinking REAL GOSU , WOW
