The company that made this box is still in business. But I can't find this box in their shopping list. And it's young enough to have a UPC code/bar.
I'm guessing it's from the early days of UPC codes, early 80's ?
It's made of a lightweight wood that is covered with what I believe to be a heavy aluminum foil that has been decorated with a hand or machine stamped on design.
I've had this a few years and decided not to remove the price sticker and forgot to remove the .99 thrift store sticker also, so at this point it stays.
The separate foil covered wood bar is a separator. I'm guessing for keeping the different fruits and/or nuts apart. If I recall correctly the company sells dried fruits and nuts.
    Thanks for looking!
I'm making another post with more photos.
I have no clue what category?

The UPC barcode looks VERY modern. I'd not think before 2000. Hard to believe they were asking 85.00 for it when new!

SpiritBear, I'm thinking the price included fruits and nuts. As I found the company who makes these, and they are a container company.
I have no clue as to when the first UPC codes were used. As far as its age...someone likely received it as a gift, kept the lovely container and donated it when they grew tired of it. I was thinking not before 1990....but I suspect it will remain a mystery.
      Thanks for stopping by!

I think UPC Bar Codes were used by factories in the '70s, but, from what I've read, for use in stores like we use them today, they were supposedly not seen before 1983.

Lots of boxes like this one - but not so nice!
