In an attempt to educate myself beyond the Kralik, Loetz, Welz, Rindskopf world I am attempting to educate myself in the world of Harrach (I can see the need for a investment in a particular reference book).
I was lucky enough to acquire my first piece a couple of weeks ago and I now have another, partly inspired by some of the wonderful Harrach, bird enameled vases I have seen on CW. This one does not have any marks and is not as refined as some other pieces I have seen here, but it's very pretty all the same. Same base colour and style of illustration as seen at the Gilded Curio's Harrach page - no marks on this one. I can't identify the bird - any twitchers out there???

Oh, this is a really nice one!! I have a soft spot for Harrach's bird vases - this one is nicely enameled, and in great condition, too! You know, I have the book you mention, and although it was an expenditure, it is a really great book and I haven't regretting getting it one bit. But it will make you hunt for Harrach more and more - be warned! ;)
Hmmm... that's what I'm afraid of!
I do love this vase with it's echo of the main design on the back of the vase. I hope Michelle is right and you go on to collect more. In fact I look forward to it!
Thank you Peggy - I'll have to invest in the 'Big' Harrach book I think
Splendid indeed Phil !!!!
I too love Harrach' enamelling of birds and foliage, I have two large black ones like this and they are beautiful, my favourites!..this is such an elegant shape and I love the soft base colour, lovely!...:-)
