I had long admired one of these with a pink neck. Unfortunately the pouring lip was totally broken off...... However I then came across this one, which has only a tiny part of one flower petal missing (image two), and was a quarter of the price! Sometimes you can hardly believe your luck!

The surface is covered in frit so sharp you fear for your fingers. The leaves and stem are strongly UV reactive. The handle is smooth but splayed ou at the base. There is a rough pontil scar.

I originally thought it might have been English. However a kind friend posted it on a Bohemian Glass site.......thank you! Opinion was divided between Kralik and Harrach so I now have a Bohemian watering can for my Kralik flowers :)

    Or maybe not.......

Thanks, Ken. It's surprising how something in such delicate colours can be striking, but you are right, it is. :)

This is beautiful, sklo - I am so happy you were able to find it, in a nicer condition (and better price!) than the other example!

I will start with the comment that it is a really cool piece, and seems pretty unique in it's construction. Blended glass colors for the body, what appears to be a crackle surface covered by sharp frit, and applied flowers..... That is quite the piece.... No simple process to produce it.

I will also say that I have no idea or opinion about who made this piece, and can not really think of anything similar that I have seen, other than a wide variety of pieces which have applied flowers, but nothing quite this elaborate in regards to the combination of techniques required to produce it.

I simply felt the need to comment, that I am always amazed at the limited number of attributions offered by large crowds relative to production of this style. We know that Kralik made applied flower production. We also know that Harrach made applied flower production. We also know, in a more limited way, that Welz also made production with some applied flower production also. In addition to those companies, I am sure that there are a reasonable number of additional Bohemian/Czech companies that also jumped on the bandwagon and produced these also since it appears that their production spanned a reasonable period of time.

If we jump borders, we know that a Danish company by the name of Aarhus also made production with applied flowers...... The Aarhus literature that is known shows production which at a glance would be indistinguishable from Bohemian production...... and yet, if one puts a piece like this up in just about any glass group.... They are Kralik or Harrach.....

It is simply puzzling to me..... :-)

As one who often answers harrach, your thoughts give me pause welz.

Appreciate your information-- especially on aarhus, a house that I don't have familiarity with.

Keep up the great work and thanks for the "course correction"!

A really beautiful jug,a bit different from others with these applied flowers and in a spirit of spring very much

Thank you Ivonne. I'm pleased you like it. I may have to make do with the 'spirit of Spring' for a while yet. Today we are back to grey rainy days!

To all those who loved the jug, thanks a lot!

... If you don't know what it is call it Harrach, lol!
