This box is 4 inches wide by 4 inches tall and 2 inches across. I think it's from around 1920-1930. not sure what kind of rock, but it's very pretty. i found it at the Treasure Island Flea Market today.

what kind of stone do you think this is made of?
    2. JImam JImam, 8 years ago
      My guess would be 'Marble'
I did a search on google... and found a similar but it is "White Marble or Alabaster Hinged Trinket Box Gold Trim"

      It's alabaster.

I find it an odd shape from what I generally see make of the same stone. Which is why I love this so much, the uncommon size and shape.

thank you JImam, Gillian and Karenoke! Alabaster makes sense. it's a very nice box, for sure!
