      Probably the writing indicates the tray was given or received as a Christmas present in 1904. The style of the tray certainly fits into that era. I think it's a part of a vanity set.

      My personal opinion on an item like this is....it's obviously old, but has no markings, so a little more difficult to identify. But if it "speaks" to you, if it is something you like to look at or use or has sentimental value, then it is precious. If you know of the cousin from back then, then it has historical value to your family. Otherwise, maybe you can sell it somewhere. I will continue to search for it but had no luck so far. Maybe someone else will know something.

      It's 12x9..and no it has no connection tof my family. Just found it...lol but love old things...

      Style, decor, handwriting and message, all suggest 1904 is correct. It looks like French whiteware to me, but I'm not expert. You could ask on this FB page:

      I think this is just beautiful! It could be, and most likely is quite a bit older than 1904! It's neat tha t the writing is still on there!
