My grandmother had a Willcos & Gibbs Sewing machine and it was stolen along with all her other belongings in CA, after she passed away, before we could get there to pick them up. I had always wanted one. Fond memories. I found this one and had it shipped. It looks EXACTLY like a Willcox & Gibbs, down to the foot pedal, which is broken. INSTEAD, the gold seal on the machine says New Home Sewing Machine Co., Orange, Mass. The foot pedal is shaped exactly like the Willcox & Gibbs, like a butterfly, but it does not, anywhere on the machine, or treadle base have the W - G initials. This is fine with me, but would love to get the base fixed. I also need a spool pin for this little machine. I am in the process of restoring both of these and hope to be able to SHOW & TELL at some point and time. Have gotten lots of advice, but this show & tell is to indicate the similarity of the two machines. I have never seen a photograph of a New Home, just sketches. Was told that I might have a rare one. Don't know, just soaking up knowledge now. I just wondered if anyone has ever seen or heard of New Home, like this one. I also spotted a Western Electric sewing machine that looked exactly like the Willcox & Gibbs. Were there patents back then and why can I know find the History of New Home now Janome and find documentation of them making this machine that looks like the Willcox & Gibbs? Thanks for the looks.

While deer hunting in Evans Creek area of Oregon we stoped at an abandoned gold claim for lunch it had also been used as a dump site I took home a New home foot treadle sewing machine and a faric covered rocking chair both had been in the weather but I have no Idea how long. The Sewing Machine and Base Both say Newhome but the pedal is flat and rectangular I am just trying to find out more about the machine I have found . Any Help?

I have a "Columbia" treadle machine with the same foot pedal you have. It is in a Quatersawn Oak French Cabinet that is in Excellent shape. It has been handed down through my husbands family and I have been trying to find something similar to find out when it was made, and more about it.

I just got a old treadle that belonged to my great aunt. It has the same foot pedal that looks like a butterfly. It is not a Singer,it is a New Hickory, I cannot find a thing on it. It is also in a full Cabinet, which needed some cleaning up after years in storage, but looks very nice now. Just very curious about what I have.Any thoughts?
