i found these two little mirrors in a Japanese laquer box at my favorite junk shop. one of them has a 1930 calendar from a print / paper shop in spain. it has wonderful jugendstihl typography! i think that the frame is tortoiseshell or something which has been carved by hand - maybe bakelite? the other has an advertisement for a shoeshop, i think. it also has interesting typography. any info appreciated.

the brown frame really looks like tortoiseshell which has been carved. i showed it to a collector friend and he thinks so too. it seems like a pretty mundane piece for a tortoiseshell frame!
