Hello everyone! I've been reading your posts for years and have finally joined. I really appreciate all the helpful advice and identifications!
Here is my latest prize....a three-handled Loetz vase in "Norma" with Candia Silberiris handles, I believe. It is 7" tall and has been made into a lamp. The wiring and bronze base are very old so it is possible they are original.
I will search for an appropriate glass shade on top, but until then I have used a beautiful burlwood shade made of blue-stained pine. They are both amazing to gaze at and I love having art that I can use around my home.
My apologies for the poor photos, they do not do justice to the intense blue-green iridescence of the vase!
Show me the wiring and the plug.
They look great together.
The plug is brown "bakelite" shaped in a wide rectangle with a sort of art deco look. The cord seems newer, thankfully. I don't want to burn down my house!
Ooh that glass, what beauty. I really love the colour highlights within the dimples, and the handle thingies.
The burl shade is a wonder in itself. I recently saw a video of someone making one of these; astonishing!
What a great first post!!
Thanks racer4four! I am especially happy that I got a screamin' deal on this beauty!
That plug is often seen in the 1940s and 1950s, ableit the rubber cord looks 1950s or 1960s (often you bought plugs and cords separately). Albeit not polarised, they always seem to be safe. So long as your rubber cord is not damaged, it should be fine (I myself use fabric-wrapped cord items still).
Thanks SpiritBear for the advice! I am considering restoring w/replica fabric-wrapped cord and round plug.
Fabulous first post a joy to view Sammyz
Thanks Malkey, it's a pleasure to meet you all!
