    Looking for info on this trunk. I am looking to purchase this and do not know the value or what I should pay for it. I do not know what the black stamps mean. I also only have these photos.

      I would say this is a late 1880's or so, round top, the 28 could be the length of the trunk but it looks longer than that, no clue on the 71, the trunk was not made in 1871.The cross slat design was patented in 1880, top slats running from front to back, most trunks that have four top slats are in the 30 to 32 inch. range, but not always, bottom slats are unusually clean, I personally would pay no more than 100$ or less for this trunk. greendog
