I've had this for years. I researched till my head exploded and can tell you nothing about it other than the obvious, it was carved in Haiti or Bahamas or.....who knows.
It looks like it's one end of something? A bookcase? Church pew or bench?
And maybe it was cut out for a main drop?
I'm clueless, any thoughts are appreciated.
I love it either way.
43 1/2" tall
15 1/4" wide
1 1/2" thick
Thanks for looking!
No clue as to a category either...lol
That's suppose to say...mail drop.
This could be for a shorter board to go thru as a prop to hold it angled upright.
Good point Blunderbuss2, thank you!
I'd never thought of that. And considering there is no hanger or otherwise for hanging, a board prop would work for display purposes if you have the space required to do so. I let it lean against the wall wherever I need a space filler or outlet hid.
Thanks!
I have room for it.
Thank you Blunderbuss2, I'll take that as a compliment.
Much appreciated!
It is part of an African folding seat!

Incredible how pieces can travel around the world :-))
OMGosh Kyratango, thank you!
Even though I've seen a few birthing chairs sell on local swip-swap sites it's never crossed my mind of this being part of one. I'm so appreciative of you taking the time to solve this mystery of many years. Thank you!
Ok BlunderBusster!
I think you were being a smarty pants about a piece of wood holding it up.
I was driving down the road a few minutes ago and it hit me, that dang Blunder Buster was trying to make me figure it out with the hint of a piece of wood to support it. Look, if I could of figured it out I wouldn't have posted it as a mystery...lol. Now stop aggravating me and spit out your knowledge next time!
Thanks for all the loves.....

And yes, BlunderBuss too!
But most importantly Kyratanto for actually telling me what it is, thank you!
Luv, I've seen primitives displayed that way. I'm not completely convinced about a birthing chair, as it is not curved to fit the back & the carvings look like they might be uncomfortable. Maybe I'm getting bored without being shot at.
Lol...I have a pellet gun, where are ya? I'll come shoot you.
But yes I see your point on the uncomfortable, but I've given natural birth and I doubt I'd noticed. No ....lol on that natural birth thing. Almost 33 years ago but I so remember.
