Family piece likely out of central NC area. Pine chest that looks like a Dry Sink but has (had) a lock on every drawer so maybe a safe of some sorts?
The top has worked loose over the years. I pulled a couple of the nails out to see if they appeared to be primitive. They show no real oxidization and the holes they were in are not rust stained, so maybe? The XXII mark on the third photo of the drawer hole matches the same mark on the drawer for that slot. drawers are dovetailed on the outside of the joint only ( you do not see the dovetail in the inside corner of the drawer where they connect.) I have some more photos if there are additional things we might need to consider. Are the teardrop pulls helpful in determining the age of the piece?

The backsplash gives it an Eastlake look, from about 1870s- 90s.

Cannot see the top well enough, but I wouldn't call it a dry sink unless the top is lower than the sides.

The nails are typical 19th century square nails.

      Thanks scottvez,

The more I see options on line, I'd agree. Also, the top is flat in front of the back rail.
