Hello Everyone, I'm wanting your thoughts on this little charm. I've never seen one and wonder how old it is? Where might it have been made? And it appears to have brass innards holding it together but the blade and such are some other metal, any guess?
    Thanks for looking!

Your knife is a fully functional, diminutive jack knife (not a pen knife) with abalone shell handles. While unmarked, it was undoubtedly made in Germany between about 1890 and 1930. There were dozens, if not hundreds, of knife manufacturers making these mini-knives for export and a large portion came to the U.S. Marked examples commonly bear the names Lunawerks (A. Feist & Co.) or Daniel Peres, but there were many other makers. Many sported decals on one side with the name of a tourist attraction such as Luray Caverns or the Empire State Building. The little ring at the end allowed them to be used as watch fobs or hung, with a jump ring, on a keychain.

Beautiful! Reminds me of the small knife my grandfather carried on his watch fob.

Oh wow! Thanks UncleRon, I just love learning about little things my dad has found over the years. I suspect it came from a thrift store and with the info you shared I'm now rather certain it didn't come from his two tours of duty in Korea, but then again I suppose it could have. And yes it is fully functional, which is what attracted me to it along with the abalone. So thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with me.
And vintagelamp, I bet your fathers and my fathers are from the same time and maybe even the same maker. Thanks for the comment!
