A beautiful purple iridescent 'square' twisted Schliersee vase with some stylised rich cream coloured enameled water lilly or lotus flowers with some gilding and some bull rush detail on the reverse. The base is semi opaque cobalt and stands 8 inches tall. Very heavy and quite thick glass.
A big Thank you to Dr Kai for identifying positively as Schliersee and also thanks to Alan for pointing me in the same direction earlier!!
so elegant Phil & a smashing colour
What about Riedel ? He was fond of square shaped vases and a lot of floral gilding.
No reference, jut guessing.
Thank you Ivan. You're absolutely correct about Riedel, but twisted, I'm not sure I have seen twisted Riedel pieces like this - I'm keeping an open mind though.
Thanks for commenting Malkey!
Phil, the twisted body remind one of my post few month ago (Bavarian, Glasfabrik Schliersee), but your vase have different decor, amazing find.
Regards
Alan
Definitely some similarities there Alan - Thanks for pointing it out
I'm quite sure your vase was made by Schliersee, thick walled iridized cobalt glass blown from top was one of its specialities, I know some more Schliersee vases of your shape.
That's great Kai, thanks for your feedback on this - I'll change my title and mark as solved.
I melt down seeing this piece of art
