I have so many brooches by Bernard Instone that I haven't put on CW, I decided to put them in as a collection. They range from the 1920s to the 1950s, I think it's interesting looking at the differences in his work over this period. Some are marked B.I and Silver others no marks. The two pins with the rock crystal and citrine stone which I think are kilt pins, I'm not a hundred percent sure. On UK ebay they have the two same pins and they are selling them has Bernard Instone, I would be interested if anybody thinks differently.
I thought it would be interesting to put this collection together so people can see a selection of his work.
Many thanks for looking, and I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
Jean, What an incredible collection of brooches you have here!! A Very Merry Christmas to you and your family! And may 2016 be happy, healthy and prosperous for you.
Thank you Scott, for the comment about the brooches. I wish you and your family also the very best for Christmas and the New Year :-)) I'll be flying back to UK this Monday coming, having Christmas with my daughter and friends. My son is visiting his in-laws in Canada.
Great group, Jean!
Always informative to see all styles together :-)
Your collection is beautiful!
Hi Kyra, see what I mean, too many brooches, I need to put them all together and post them, I must have more then 30 or 40 could be even more Instone brooches.
What an amazing collection. Thank you sharing them. I wonder do you have them all insured?
Happy Christmas to you, and safe travels for all of you. Families are way too far apart these days, especially at Christmas.
Thanks for putting up these photos, Jean. I love them all.
Such a range of styles but all so beautifully executed. I can see why you collect his work Jean.
These are so beautiful..what a wonderful collection...Merry Christmas Peasejean55....:-)
What a beautiful collection and great presentation, too! I'd love to see all your BI pieces laid out chronologically, say from earliest to the latest (with perhaps a separate section of those not 100% certainly attributable), it's so helpful to follow the development of the designer's style over time. The same Christmas wish goes out to all CW members who own extensive collections of any particular designer / maker - wouldn't that be a great educational tool and a holiday gift for all CW visitors!
Thank you Gillian, nutsabotas, Efesgirl, Karen, inky and davyd. It really is a pleasure when I get some great feedback on my Bernard Instone collection. I suppose davyd I could try and put my pieces in chronologically order, I still have some more of his pieces and I'm still on the look out for his work. But leave it with me and I'll see what I can do.
I wish you all a Happy New Year.
Many thanks
