    any ideas on the age of this nice piece? or the maker? it has hallmarks on it, and needs a good polishing, I have 2 of these, both in nice condition, what were they used for?

      Lion = sterling .925
      Crown = Sheffield England
      TB & S = Thomas Bradbury & Sons (registered 1892)
      Unsure of the date of production of this piece as there isn't a date mark. Try researching TB&S, that might give you an idea.

      These were placed on the dinner table, often many of them on one table depending on the amount of guests. Most likely they were personal salt and peppers, which would explain the small size. Pretty neat little condiment piece.

      yes,the previous writer is correct,thay are called condiment sets,and there should be blue glass liners in the salts.
