This is a very nice Kutani vase with buddha's life passages beautifully done. It measures 8 1/2" X 5 1/2". I know it's kutani but couldn't find the mark? I don't know what it means the top left character? Any comments will be appreciated.

Thank you very much for your comments. Yes it's a very interesting piece since include the core of buddha's teachings which for I can see in this vase is:
      Search for enlightenment by
Dominating the monkey (mind) jumping from branch to branch(thoughts) in a transitional ocean.
Eradicating our lurking inner demons by searching enlightenment.
All this poor people only with his book looking for his word in between all these tamed animals (turtle, puma or lion) and the messenger of god the Dragon witch is the divine connection between heaven and earth.
Thanks to Christine Zachary for helping to understand this.
Sorry that I couldn't include more photos.

the messenger of god the Dragon witch is the divine connection between heaven and earth.standard symbolism the same as in chinese , i think this is no room for poly interpretation
