Can anyone give me information on this clock have the pendulum and key worried about winding it ...the clock is about 40 pounds and marble we purchased it years ago, it seems to be from the 1900.

Look behind the clock and open the access door to view the movement. Look for any identifying names or marks on the movement. This style of clock is called a novelty mantle clock.
I agree with ClockPop......but depending on the manufacturer, which was usually in Connecticut, the name and date could be stamped on the front of the movement in the clock....that involves removing the hands, bezel and faceplate. Not really hard to do. When winding the clock....I've noticed, again depending on maker (Ingraham) the right (time side) winds counter clock wise...the chime side (left side) winds clock wise. (Sessions) winding is usually counter clockwise for both time and chime. You would be better off to bring it to a clock repair shop if you don't want to get too involved with it! Good luck!
