This was a knock-off series from the 1990s based on the 12" GI Joe revival. This one was sold at Wal-Mart although other figures from this line were sold at target. The quality of these was variable and tended to be on the not so high side. This was more on the high side.
The mid/early 1990s until the early 2000s were a silver age for 12" action figures. Not only was Hasbro releasing new 12" GI Joes but there was also Ultimate Soldier, Dragon, Soldiers of the World and others.
I was mostly buying the Ultimate Soldier figures and vehicles at this point. They tended to have a high quality, a large amount of accessories and a low price. Thus I tended to ignore the SOTW products.
Now I am collecting the products I previously passed up. Not only does this figure and the accessories have great detail. The tiny pliers seen in photo 4 actually open and close. That and his oxy acetylene torch. Not many WWII mechanic figures out there. Despite him being a USSAF mechanic I will have him working on my jeeps and armored vehicles.
