This trunk is 45 1/2" long, 26 1/4" at its peak height (rounded top), and 2 feet deep exactly. The trunk is cedar lined. There have been many repairs, some rivets still left but many screws. Some panels of copper or brass are patching areas of wood, they are hard to see with limited pictures but they're on the top.
There are obvious hardware additions, after having this trunk for 20 years myself now I just realized the hinges I took a close up of are not original either. In the photo of the view of the back you can see the slots where the original ones sat. I'm curious about this thing, always have been. I can provide more photos if need be. Ty

Oh wow... this hinge is dated before the patent. I'm not sure what that might mean but thank you!! It's more than I've found on this.

sorry my bad ,Hart had multiple hinge patents. These should be the ones that apply.
