Elisabethan

These are carved bone or ivory necklaces. I´m not sure on the material but I think it's bone. I have seen one of the necklaces, the one in photo nr 2 from the left, on a photo of a reference book and it said ivory and 1920's. But I'm not convinced my piece is. I thought that one might be coral and the necklace with a medallion I thought was bone.
I'm interested in where these were made.
Are these likely to have their origin in Japan or China, or somewhere else? I´m grateful for your ideas :)
These are both very pretty! Especially since you love this type of jewelry I think they are both great choices for you. My guess would be ivory but it's hard to tell on my screen, the photos are not zooming in for me. Ivory and bone are the same basically, they are both bone, just from either different sources I think...Ivory I believe is considered from the elephants tusks, which yoy probably is no longer legal to sell and I am not so sure that the grandfather law applies to them, so many people say it's ox bone or something else. Either way, you should still be able to see the lines throughout the beads, just like you can maybe see that in your own teeth. Asian for the one with the dragon I would say for sure. China or Japanese, that I'm not positive, especially with no clasp. Very possible both are from Japan. Both are beautiful and I'm sure look awesome on you!
Now how much did that help??? haha sorry!
Ha ha but that's grate! That's how we do it. We share ideas and find answers together :). Even when we don't find an answer I think it's helpful to share. Thank you. I have had this for some time and didn't know anything about them or the material, still don't. Later I saw a photo on line from that book. I have red up on it and examined them many times and I would be surpriced if it is the case because there are no lines from what I can see. On the back of the medallion there are some fine cracks that I think are typical för bone and not for ivory. Grateful for your thoughts shareurpassion. Have a nice and wonderful day!
Thankyou blunderbus and shareurpassion for loving the post.

These are wonderful Elisabethan. I think both Asian, looking at the reticulation and designs. I'm feeling they are Chinese, but that's based on no proof at all!
Thank you Racer4four for your thoughts. They are valuable in the discussion. Nice of you to answer me :)

Very nicely made!!!
Those hidden screw clasps have age :-)
For material, can't enlarge the pics to search for lines or texture... so... can't say either :-)
Thank kyratango and Valentino for help and trying to help. It's hard getting the texture in the photos. I'll try to take close ups tomorrow morning if the light is right. If I manage...:)
For love, thank you:

These are lovely....with bone you would also normally see sthe odd dark vein lines and I don't think as smooth as ivory, also on the edges of ivory you would see what they call 'cross hatching' shown in the link below...:-)

I have closely inspected these beads with my eyes and a magnifying glass and tried to find referenses to compare. I have come to the conclusion that these are both carved bone. With your answers I think I can find this solved as antique/vintage asian carved bone necklaces. Thank you for all your help.
I can't help you much but I just wanted to say that I really like them, they are very beautiful!
Glad you solved your mystery, I would have guessed the same, vintage bone. Very pretty necklaces! :)
