While learning how to use my new photo cube, I decided to show this set of Loetz vases, PN 346/457 in cobalt (?) glatt. They have a graceful art nouveau design of cyclamen flowers in heavy silver overlay. The two are a true set as they are mirror images of one another. Always a sucker for blue, I snapped these up even though one vase had significant losses to the silver.
Since I enjoy silversmithing, I have been painstakingly crafting restoration pieces. The silver on the other vase was intact and helped me trace a pattern for the second vase. The new pieces are only lightly tacked on as I still need to engrave them. So far, I think the restorations look pretty good considering the original design is not perfectly symmetrical. I know I wouldn't fool a museum, but my goal is to have a working set of beautiful cobalt vases that will pass some scrutiny.
The vases are 7.75" tall x 2.25" wide, have a polished pontil and a flat rim marked sterling. They have a wonderful satiny texture and golden to purple iridescence.
Love the silver work. Tastefully elegant....

Thanks Craig! I better post something without silver before folks start thinking that's all I like.

Oh my goodness - how creative! Your silversmithing is fascinating, and what a worthy project for these lovely vases. Good luck with the engraving process!

Thanks Michelleb007! Thanks inky! I really love it all about the vases, the intense color, the graceful shape and the sinuous silver work!
