Bought a pair of these at an antique store. I have no idea how old they are or what type of shade to buy. They are heavy and nearly 3 feet tall.

I know nothing, but I think it's pretty!
Maybe someone will stop by soon and give you the info you seek.

Could you possibly take a couple more shots and add them here. That lamp is beautiful. Looks a bit art deco-ish to me. Very dramatic. You can add more photos by hitting the edit...up to 4 pics. Your photo here is just a bit too dark as well and make sure you get the top of the lamp.

Oh yea, now I can see them. I'm guessing most likely they had the silo shaped shades, I think I would try the shades that flare out at the bottom and have satin material that twists around. I'm positive it would help more if I knew the correct names! Have you looked all over, especially the bottom to see if there is any name on them? They are so pretty!

I looked once, but will take a closer look. Thanks for the advice.

Beside the switch, it reads LEVITON 250 W. Then it reads Lamp Holder and the word PRESS is written in a curved fashion.

Very few of these have names, almost none, and some have only initials. Some do have dates also. I have also one dated from 1973 not too disimmilar to yours. I talked to my sister asking if I threw mine out yet, but I said it was our fathers, so I did not feel throwing it away was an option. I have commented on origins of dozens of these lamps. I guess you cannot see in the large glass globe at the bottom. Ususally the ones that let light through were lit and most had a metal diffuser which emitted a rather beautiful soft light ! This one is from the U.S.

My mother had a pair similar to these in the early 70's. She had gold silk drum shades on them sort of in this shape ) ( . They had gold braiding on the seams as well as the top and bottom, and were lined. I know they were very expensive lamps at the time.
