In the mid 80s Hoya started to produce a limited edition range of crystal items, all of which were hand finished. They were all designed by their highly regarded in-house designers, and were very expensive when issued.
This is the only clock I have seen from the range, although that doesn't mean it was the only one issued. It is a large piece measuring about 21cm high, and very weighty at a bit under two kilos.
The photos don't show well the exceptional big cat on the top of the clock (panther? leopard?); it is a beautiful modeling and the satin effect really shows the musculature and posture of it. The remainder of the clock is highly polished.
It came in it's original box still with original battery for the Japanese made quartz movement.
I love the way they have used the satin and the polished and before I read what it was I thought I spied a panther..so well done and very beautiful....love it!..:-)
Ditto :)
Love that sinuous panther on the top Karen... Reminds me of my "Panthères De Cartier" Vase I posted ages ago. :)
Thanks for the panther vote guys!!
I always appreciate feed back from each of you, Penny, Peggy, and Mike.
Fantastic. I didn't see the panther straight away. He has a bit of an Art Deco look to him.
fab wild cat protecting the time piece wonderful !!!! Karen
This is a neat piece. I take it the clock works on this one? It's funny how we all end up finding like things for a time. (scuze the pun haha) Right now, owls keep coming my way!
I agree on the art deco style Fran. Thanks for the love.
Thanks for the compliment Ken, anyone is happy to get them!
Ta Malkey, it's a time panther!
I am finding lots of clocks Sue, I am really feeling time ticking away........
I don't know if it works yet. Do you think the 30 year old battery will do the job, or will I have to lash out on a new one??!!
I see the panther. Very cool.
Thanks Fort, cool it is.
Love the clock and the cat!
A BIG cat, thanks VL!
