In the days before aluminium and PVC doors and windows it was much more difficult to keep insects out of the house. Beetle traps like this one were popular. A bait was placed in the central cup but when the unsuspecting beetle tried to walk across the flaps they rotated, throwing the beetle into the bottom of the trap from which there was no escape. The original label, in very poor condition, is still on the back. Made from tin.
Until one day when a highly evolved beetle discovered that he could balance on the ridge of one of the flaps and walk across. That was the beginning of a race of intelligent beetles who now control the entire world economy from an abandoned sewer tunnel beneath New York City.
Takin on the gators I hear
Great old trap there they just don't make things like they once did everything made now is disposable but not biodegradable, evolution?
Some beetles became wise to these traps and developed wings that allowed them to fly directly to the centre and gobble up the sweet nectar then fly off to the next free meal?
I know some people who couldn't figure this trap out.
