Hello Friends,
This is an estate sale find. When I first saw it I thought it might be from England, it's like another red pottery bottle that I have which is marked, " Torquay " ( I believe ). I couldn't see this mark well enough without a magnifier, and assumed it was the same maker, though a different color.
About 20 minutes ago I checked the bottom with a magnifier and discovered that it's more likely German. The mark may be
" Schutz-Marke ".
It's made of a beautiful warm colored clay, has a handsome shape and fancy applied design on both sides. The most interesting thing about it is the stopper, which features the portraits of 3 men, writers?
Hopefully it'll be familiar to someone.
Any looks, loves, or comments welcome.
p.s., I didn't mention that there's a monogram on the bottle image of the maker's mark, difficult to make out. Maybe someone will recognize the shape of the mark?
Goodnight/day to all, Tony.
Thanks for the look and love, Alan! Much appreciated!!
Budek, you very welcome.
Just wonder how big is this piece ?, very nice, I love the colour and the shape, always love very much those old pottery pieces like that.
Regards
Alan
