Came across this last night in a bedroom dresser drawer, of all places. It comes in its original leather case. I thought it was a shotgun shell at first. I read that they were sold as advertising by the Wyeth Hardware Stores. It is stamped:
SCHRADERS UNIVERSAL TIRE GAUGE
Manufactured By A. Schrader & Son Inc.
Brooklyn N.Y. U.S.A. --- Pat. July 6, 1909 --- March 28,1916
The third photo is one I got off the internet showing it extended. I do plan to test it out at home, when I get a chance.
My work sends its employees odd gifts every holiday. I got a modern version a few months ago. LOL.
Ah, SpiritBear, gotta love the ole tire gauge, umbrella or even calculator/ruler corporate gifts...Life just doesn't get any better than that...Haha
I have a couple of these but no leather case, give it a quick shake and it should open.
Thanks EJW-54, it did open and the markings are in even better shape than the picture I scabbed from the internet. They are cleanly marked in white. Thank you for all the "Loves", not being a tool person, I thought this was pretty fun, anyways.
