Its a tool to do something like dip something? I swear I know what it is but cant remember! Its black metal, 29" long, about 3/8"w and 1/4 thick. It has marks at every inch on the shaft. Obviously hand made and old. One end has a small "corkscrew" on it like maybe to screw into something to pick it out of a liquid??? The other end has like a shelf thing to lower something into a liquid maybe? I'm lost! Sorry about bad pics.
It is a "mud spoon" used by miners to scrape out (horizontally) or lift out (vertically) debris from a hole bored for placing a blasting charge. The inch markings measured the depth of the hole. I don't know what the "corkscrew" was for; possibly to help loosen compacted debris in the bottom of the hole.
That was amazing UncleRon! Thanks!
Chalk up another one for UncleRon, solved it quick!!!
Welcome to CW toolman444, this is a great place, to learn, and maybe teach, about the things we have, or collect! :^)
