Thrift store finds. The first one is actually kind of wrong, cuz I was technically an accident too.
They were sent to a soldier almost exactly 75 years ago.

There was no such thing as political correctness back in the day, right?! And by no means were you an accident...I think you were and are exactly where you are supposed to be! ;)
Kind of a funny story how I found out. My mom always lead me to believe she was married to my father, then divorced.
The day after I got out of the psych ward of the local hospital, she told me in the car that she and my father had gotten drunk at a New Year's Eve party.
I looked at her, played it 'cool', but was thinking inside, "Definitely NOT the best time to tell me!"
No idea what possessed her to tell me then.
Great find.
Thank you, Phonoboy.
SpiritBear, your mother may have been wiser than you thought. Perhaps she told you right then to give you something to think about other than current issues bothering you. Just maybe she was trying to enlighten you and get you to get on a different train of thought. Mothers do those things because they love us and are sometimes at a loss for knowing exactly what to do next. Mothers are human to.
But that risks the possibility that it backfires.
Everything in life comes with risks. Even walking across the street. I have been crossing streets almost 70 years and I always look both ways. I get to the curb and I look up and I look down. I looked both ways. Sometimes a message is how you interpret it in your mind. Nobody said look left and right, they said look both ways. So you see there can be more than one meaning to a statement spoken. It is left to us to sort it out.
Nice bright colors for 75 years old hope I have 1/2 as much then ;D
Unplanned maybe but no accident and certainly no mistake but know what ya mean I was the same ish my Mom was 42 & Dad was 47 when I was born and know they didn't plan to have another at that age but then my Family tree works like that, I never met my grandfather, my dad never met his and his dad never met his beyond that I don't know.
Never seems to be a good time to tell someone something of that nature, It's times like that I try to blow it off by saying one of two things (most often to myself) either Obla Di Obla Da part of a Beatles song Obla Di Obla Da life goes on brah La la how the life goes on, OR What's the difference in a hundred years, If none I try to just let it be. In any case no worries you got through it and turned out to be fine upstanding young gentleman and a scholar! ;P Just one of many stumbling blocks life like to throw out there besides nobody can change the past, It's when we dwell on that causes problems maybe best to relax and enjoy life.
fhrjr2, while one can look at all the possible interpretations and intentions behind something written or said, one is only a single being and can only truly believe one thought about said thing in that particular moment. One can change his thoughts on it at a later date, but my thought was solidified upon hearing the words she told me in that moment after such circumstances.
Political Pinbacks, I graduated today with my Associates Degree. Half my family had killed themselves. Both grand parent went out with a literal bang-- one using a bullet to the head. We all dwell in the past, as the past feels stronger than the unknown future. All save for the fear of the future....
Congratulations on YOUR Associates Degree!!! WTG Knew you were a smart fella.
Had a number of family members end that way too ;( who would have thunk it.
Good to remember the past not so much to dwell on it, Fear nothing but fear itself
Thanks, Political Pinbacks.
I've been there too.
We collect antiques. Naturally we gravitate to the past and prefer to let our thoughts dwell there. As for fear, I fear most that which doesn't exist: The past is gone, and the future is unknown. I'm afraid of them, but they don't exist. LOL.
There's a political joke in there just itching to get out however I won't go there as I already had an item pulled today for being political.
Okay ya got me there we do tend to dwell in our history just in a good way.
Boogieman count?
Did you catch the youtube link from brunswick today?
May the 4th be with you ;p So glad there's only 5 Mins. until the 5th that joke is already old.
At the dinner last night, my step-nephew ignored my puns. He said that all puns have been used too many times, even if he never heard the pun before. LOL
He sounds punny
