Another from my High Desert shopping expedition. This is a leaf from the Saturday Evening Post dated June 26th, 1926. The page displayed is an advertisement for a GE Electric fans. The fan pictured is a 9" oscillating fan which sold for $12.50 east of the Rockies. Unfortunate for those of us in the west.
Noting that they made motors for AC and DC power supplies. I believe New York City still had a DC power supply in the early 1930s. This was when the brass bladed fans were on their way out. Word to the wise is to snag the brass bladed fans when they are at a good price.
It came with a nice beat up old frame. I have been on the lookout for vintage frames although I need empty ones.
PS that is my Dad and Uncle in the photo underneath.
Nice piece of advertising Fortapache.
Thank you very much Caperkid.

Expensive!! (I'm serious. LOL I could buy an oscillating fan for almost half that price today at work).
Thank you very much SpiritBear. That does seem like a lot of money at the time. I am wondering how much it would cost to make one exactly like it today. I think it could be a couple hundred $.

I understand why it was expensive back then. The technology of the day was not sufficient for mass-producing them like we can today. Also, not too many people were buying them just yet, so the price they had to charge (to make a profit) was higher.
The fans were fairly simple. Material was abundant. The pieces were all there. It was just putting it all together that wasn't fun. LOL.
These were the Cadillac of fans back then along with three other brands so bit pricey. I just looked up the cost of a Model T in 1926. Price on those was $260 - $660 (4 door sedan) so yes $12.50 was a lot.
Just found a little calculator so let's see $12.50 then equals $168.60 now. That is a big chunk of change but GE was selling a lot of fans.
