WWII KA - BAR U.S.N. MK2 Fighting Knife and NORD - 4723 Scabbard a friend's find

Last night at bowling Bob, friend of mine, asked if I would like to see what he found in his uncle's estate a WWII knife. Sure I said. We went out to his car and he took out this nice KA - BAR U.S.N. MK2 fighting knife, and NORD - 4723 scabbard. He said that his uncle was in the US Navy in WWII, and was a prisoner of war for two years, that they broke both his legs, but he survived and made it back home, after the War.

The knife is marked on the blade side of the guard KA - over BAR, and USN over MK2, it has a stacked leather hand grip, with a woven cord at the hilt.
The blade has been sharpened a lot, but is still in good condition.
The 13" scabbard is marked on the front metal guard U.S.N. over MK2 and under that on the fiberglass sheath a T 9 or 6 1
On the back of the scabbard on the metal guard it's marked NORD - 4723 over B.M. CO. then a 6 with a line over it, then VP with a star under it. and scratched down the sheath Reynolds.

I think both pieces are in good shape for their age of 75 years.
The hand holding the knife, is Bob's! He did a good job too! :^)
