Here's one from the "things that light up" collection(s) to close out the weekend.
I believe MASTER LOCKS started their TOUGH UNDER FIRE ad campaign in the late 1970's, and think it still continues to this day to some degree. This illuminated clock probably isn't quite that old, I'd guess it is somewhat newer, maybe 1990's? Measuring about 16" square, it has a round "circline" fluorescent tube inside to provide the light while its clock movement is battery operated. I had to replace its original bulb a couple years ago now, pretty certain the failed tube was original because it still had a couple strips of dried out masking tape (probably left over from its mfr's packing/shipping) holding it in place in addition to the real bulb clips. The backside of the clock housing is translucent red plastic which casts a cool soft glow on the wall all around it.
love these clocks !1
OH DEAR...my most belated THANK YOUS to: PhilDMorris, RoddyQ, EJW-54, ttomtucker, antiquerose, Newfld, Brunswick, yougottahavestuff, iggy, lptools, and keramikos for stopping by and sharing the <love it>s since I showed this clock -- I'm SO sorry I neglected to offer my thanks until now?!!
Keramikos, I just switched out one of my original pics to show all the labels on its back. (don't know why I didn't think to do that originally?) No patent numbers or date, unfortunately. The masking tape note on lower RH side is my own showing that I changed out that original bulb nearly a decade ago now...it has been on 24/7 ever since. (barring power outages, that is) Hope by the time this one quits I'll actually be able to *find* a replacement "circline" fluorescent bulb... <eeek>
