I thought it was painted black originally (the wood looked unstained through the flaked-away portions). Imagine my surprise when, whilst using a harsh chemical stripper, I saw the label beneath the paint. I never noticed its outline. Had I known, I'd have been less liberal with the chemical in that spot.
Anyway, albeit only a few letters appear original anymore, can anyone tell me what the label said? I'm thinking that it said Western Electric, as I've seen similar labels, but.... Gone now. Chemical ate it away, so I scraped and sanded the remains.
Interestingly, the chemical ate through my gloves. They suddenly began to fall apart after only a few seconds. I gave up on gloves, and now my hands are quite rough. LOL.
It does look like the black and gold WE label. You can get repro decals to replace it; see if any of the guts have WE parts codes.

Looks like it came out very clean! Latex or rubber gloves? hope you ran cold water over your hands that stuff can burn deep.
Zoomed in on the image of the tag looks cool, It would make a nice background LOL
That just might be the same one FA and what the tag once looked like LOL
Tube Amp, thank you.
Fort Apache, it is a very close match.
Political Pinbacks, I was using latex. And I didn't wash my hands for several minutes. They're still unhappy. LOL.
I over-enhanced the photo in the hope of getting any details out of it. I may get a replica decal.
