Hi Everyone, I've missed a lot and all of the friendly members.
Unfortunately I lost my my brother on May 5. And been busy grieving and learning how to deal with it. But I've got many sweet memories. Thanks!
I found this purse last night in a dumpster dive where someone had been evicted, there were many, many cheap purses and even a coach knock off.
So I expect someone on here will know if my gut instinct sucks or if this bag is really as vintage as it appears and maybe what the handles may be made of? The inside liner I thought was pleather, but the more I feel it and look where it is sewn together I'm fairly convinced that as much as it looks fake, it is actually leather.
So I'm excited to read everyone's thoughts, guesses or knowledge on this purse.
Hope everyone is doing well and finding lots of great finds!
Thanks everyone!
Another thing I noticed about this purse is that one of the handles is warped a bit.
It was wet when I found it as we just had a couple days of much needed rain, therefore I left it in the back of my truck and was too tired to unload al the goodies when I got home. So it baked in the early part of the day Florida sun for a while today, so I'm not sure if the handle was warped when I found it or if today's sun did it? But seeing the effect of what I think the sun may have done brings to mind...Bakelit? Any guesses?
I think I have this mystery solved all by myself, WHOOP, WHOOP!!!
It's lucite handles. One is not deformed from the sun, they snap together for closure.
Ok I admit, sometime it's easier to ask people who may know what something is because it's easier than doing the research. My bad;~/
Hey Fortapache, thanks for the love. Much appreciated!
And one day I'm gonna drag all them boxes of toys out of the attic and be looking for help. They are my dad's, but dementia has taken his memory and he don't remember them and I expect they are nothing special as I think he obtained most of them in the early days of this horrific illness. But we will find out one day;-)
Sorry to read the sad news, my sincere sympathy. Take Care.
I LOVE IT! A Lucite handle needlepoint purse. I'm so sorry you have to deal with all that sadness, but you are definitely a trooper!
Thanks so much Jimam and Efesgirl, I appreciate your condolences.
And this purse is clean and fresh on the outside, thanks to all that rain;-)
