This iconic form and its acid cutback decoration were designed by Dagobert Peche for the Austrian Werkbund Exhibition of 1914, an exhibition designed to showcase a cross-section of Austrian industrial art. This was one of eight of his designs showcased. Fourteen of these jardinieres were executed for the exhibition. There are eight different color combinations listed for this PN- this one is maigrün (may green) with schwarz (black). This decorative motif was the inspiration for much of the enameled flower decoration found on many of the "Tango" glass pieces produced by Loetz in the years that followed. Peche went on to join the Wiener Werkstätte in 1915, and he died in 1923 at age 36 of a malignant tumor.
