I think this machine is absolutely gorgeous. I saw an ad in Craigslist and the foils caught my eye immediately. As you can see in the first shot - they're in spectacular condition. The table isn't bad - needs a modest refinishing, but the machine just needs a routine cleaning and I've already gotten a new belt for it. This machine - a model E - happens to be different than most treadles in that it has reverse. Go figure - German engineering. :D This machine would've sold for close to TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS (USD). Can you imagine paying that much for a home machine? By the way, this particular machine's foils have a unique, and slightly naughty nickname in the vintage machine groups - they call this machine the "McBoobs". When I posted it, that was the first comment someone put on my poor machine, haha! I guess the first thing I'll have to make on it is a bra for the foils. :P

I have this same machine, but it is a Model D. Mine is in an enclosed cabinet case and we are still in the process of removing the oily dirt/dust that is all over it. It turns amazingly free, and I can't wait to get the belt on. I would really love to find a manual or any paperwork for it, because I am not sure how to thread it. What type of cabinet is yours in and would you happen to have any paperwork, or know how to date them by the serial numbers? Also, we thought it may be a sphynx or like that, as the name of the design, but not even sure, as it resembles one of the singer designs called that. I thought it was Cleopatria when I first seen it myself. Hope to hear back from you and compare notes. Thank you for posting this.

      Hi again, pamelad.

You might have better luck connecting with the very knowledgeable HeatherStiletto, as she she's posted as recently as two years ago, but in case she doesn't respond, here is a manual for a Frister and Rossman Transverse Shuttle (insofar as I can tell, the Model D is a transverse shuttle):

Here is a transcribed version at needlebar:
