Thrift store find. It is very similar to a souvenir cup of mine, which could date back as far as the 1890s.
My mom happened to greatly like it. It's in the centre of our dining room table.
Ideas on age, pattern, and maker?
originally introduced as 'Excelsior' (X.L.C.R.) by Adams & Co. c1890. But was continued and reproduced by United States Glass/Tiffin for many years, and also reproduced by Indiana Glass as #77 'Early American Crown & Thumbprint' c1977. Some forms also reproduced by others... don't know of a way to determine the maker of your ruby stained compote.
Thank you very much, Tall Cakes. :)
forfot to mention most commonly known name is Kings Crown
I think I heard of the King's Crown name before. Thank you.
My wife loves these Kings Crown compotes and glasses, in clear, green, amber, and blue, both ruby and gold flashed. They work good for Margaritas too! :^)
Awfully big margarita.
Awfully big is the best kind of margarita
LOL, if you say so.
