Loetz PN 85/3693 in Creta Papillon hard at work

Here is a Loetz PN 85/3693 vase in Creta Papillon. It is hard at work displaying a bouquet of red and pink Peonies. They look stunning together!

The vase is 8" tall and 4" wide with a polished pontil. It has a round base but a rectangular rim with 6 "M" crimps in it. This is the same decor as the two vases I purchased with the bronze holly and berry mounts. I decided it was too risky to remove the 117-year old mounts for use outside of the winter holidays and purchased an unadorned version.

I found that the crimps in the rim actually serve a very useful purpose-they hold the stems in place and prevent them from shifting around. The excellent quality and weight common to Loetz vases makes them very stable and prevents tip-overs.
