Found yesterday at Value Village Head to her toes about 8 1/2 inches but her dress extends down about one inch--Handmade and well made--face is all embroidered,, Eyes push foreward (heavy applied satin stitched) I am dating this somewhat on the use of what my grandmother called "buckrum stiffning" undercoat of dress- to help it stand out-shown photo 4, and aged fabric wear like on an old quilt A place on the white ruffle and one in the black ruffle-- and very old snaps--all the way down the back ( metal, drakened ) She has little "thumbs and figural feet and her ankles have seams--This doll is very firmly packed--near hard Tufts of hair all applied. Nothing lost. When I picked it up--I had a warm fuzzy feeling--like it was very much loved--so I took her home, where she can get some more! I have a "soft spot" for this.
You'll see the edges have very small .fine zig-zag stitching where there is not the hand stitching on this-- Interesting info---Industrial machines used the swing-needle or zigzag stitch before 1900====although it took many years for this stitch to be adapted to the home machine.
