i saw this frame at my favorite segunda and knew i had to buy it even though it was $30. i recognized the old lemon gilding and the look of the wood on the back as being late 18th century up to about 1810. however, when i got it home, i realized that it's the inside of a very large frame - this had another frame around it. but i still really like it. maybe i even have the perfect frame to put around it? the outside is 28 inches by 22 inches.

oops. the coincidence was that there is writing on the back which mentions Carter's Hardware in Windsor - which - if it's from Windsor Vermont, was bought by my grandfather in the 1950s.
