These were a find at the Flea Market this past weekend, they're antique brass candlewick scissors. The seller, a friend, and regular at the Flea, didn't know what they were for, and suggested I buy them and post them on CW, to see if anyone could identify them, but surprise! I found them after a few searches on Google, and Google Image, I was able to find one like this one, and info about them, which I'll post in comments.
The scissors were very tarnished, so I cleaned them with a multi-use tarnish remover, that's Earth friendly, and it worked very well on the brass. The scissors are 4 3/4" long, with 2" blades, with wick bowl and tweezer tips. They have a 1/4" pin that extends off the center back, to keep the greasy bowl off of a surface when set down. The blades aren't sharp, because they are only used to cut burnt wick.
These candlewick scissors were made for cutting the wicks of tallow or fat candles, to keep the flame controlled and save the candle from melting too fast.
Thank you for looking, all comments welcome, and questions, hopefully will be answered by checking the link that I'll post! :^)
