My exciting $6 purchase.
After the photos, I dismantled it as far as I could to clean every lense with a very little dab of Windex and a paper towel, then a dry, a lot of clean forced air to remove the dust, and a final polishing with cotton cloth. Plus, I cleaned out the tubes. So.... it's pretty dust-free now.
Missing cap, which likely had the maker's mark. No mark on it anywhere.
Age and maker possible to identify? Made of brass, glass, and animal flesh (leather).
Blackbeard's Arrrr and a belly full of rum
You're picking up some good kit lately.
Looks like quite the find.
Political Pinbacks, no, that's my arm and a dog full of trouble. :P
Blunderbuss2, thank you. It's only due to the findings getting better as summer arrives.
Fort Apache, thank you.
Summer or not, you're on a roll.
So that's about £4 in my money, which is utterly disgusting. How can you find such a great thing for stupid money! As ex Royal Navy I would love to get some items like this but the good ones are damn expensive. It's a lovely thing.
Blunderbuss, at the same time, I call most all my stuff junk as we can't take it with us! LOL.
Hamish, if you go to e-Bay.uk, you can sort by price and search till you win a low-priced auction.
It works well too, for what it is at least.
Cute dog :)
I would LOVE to have one of these!!! I have never been able to see right through binoculars.
Thank you, Viking Girl.
Share Ur Passion, most are adjustable for how far they are between your eyes, and each lense should be individually able to focus on a good pair.
Great find!!
Thank you, Coopergirl.
