$5 yard-sale find from two doors down. She told me she broke the globe before the sale that morning, but I happen to have a No. 1 size globe, so it wasn't too disappointing. It didn't clean up as well as hoped and has a huge dent in it, but it displays quite well from a short distance.

See the little tiny hole in behind the wick adjustment? See all the crap on the floor? All of that came out of that tiny hole!!!! (Which was why the mechanism was not working, I should think. I totally cleaned it and oiled it; it now works). But there was more in that than what was on the floor. I just got tired of putting it into the paper towel. So many shells of insects.

The burner was so grimy, sooty, and tarnished, that when I was cleaning it, I got excited by discovering a patent date. I looked the burner over to try and espy more, but I saw nothing. Then, from under the grime I was removing, another one popped out! And another! But you couldn't tell under all that crap.

Newest patent is 1895 on this Bradley & Hubbard nickel-plated centre-draft lamp. Perfect for my Edwardian theme. It now resides on the sewing machine cabinet in the living room.

Took two hours to get it working and to looking like photo one. Heavy tarnish/soot and clogged mechanism.

Thank you, Political Pinbacks. Sadly, the nickel is permanently spotted and even missing in some spots.
Fingers? Bears don't have fingers. :/
