Wondering if F.W. Mix held the lock patent.
Wonderful round top /Monitor top trunk.(This style of trunk is my favorite as I still own 3 of them.)
Pictures of the sides or the back could reveal hardware that possibly could
give a hint at the maker.

Thanks for loves. Drill, the lock looks the same, thanks for info, I will research it. I decided to refinish this trunk and use it. Then give it to my nephew (3 year old) someday. It came from his grandfathers family. I used tung oil on the wood as it will help prevent future cracks. It had canvas on it previously but was getting bad. I put tung oil on the inside but plan to line with cedar. Tung oil does harden. I made pistol grips and used t oil also. Thanks for info.

I enjoyed looking through that 1897 catalog..the trunk looks similar, but has 4 slats, mine has 5. But trim looks similar. The relatives have a few sheds out back, I looked through lots of boxes for the key. Found other keys but not the correct one. I bolted the latch back on the trunk, the old nails are gone. Thanks Drill for info.

      Russ123,
Great looking old trunk! I get all of my trunk keys from a gentleman named George, on eBay. Even though he doesn't have it listed on eBay, he most always comes thru for me. Here's his link.
