I found this little beauty at an antique store. It's in amazing condition with only one handle missing. It also still has the key. The paper is still inside, but is in bad shape. The trunk seems to be very solid. Didn't know if I should buy it.
Pure Jenny...
Trunkman, I bought this little trunk today. It even has the key, and the lock does work. I've already scraped out the old paper inside. Just a little sanding, a little tung oil, new handles, and a little paint on the banding and lock, and it should be good as new.
So glad to hear you picked it up -- nice little gem this Jenny! Looks like you've got the bug facstchr9455.... nice selections!
ps. Finding one with a key is phenomenal...
I've had the bug for years. My first was a barrel stave that came from Germany with my great, great-grandmother in 1858. I have a ship's passenger list with her name and mention of three trunks. I'm getting the second of those trunks this Tuesday. My cousin is giving it to me. I'm thrilled.
How awesome is that to have that kind of family history in a piece! Looking forward to the post of the "Two trunk sisters" re-united.
