The first photo is a "before" shot of this sweet little trunk I bought near Charleston, SC. It was missing its original tray, but we were able to find another to take its place. I stripped the crumbling paper to reveal beautiful wood that was in excellent condition. I lightly sanded and applied Danish oil. The metal parts needed a little work to remove light rust, and a good coat of paint. The interior had the original paper that wasn't in good condition. I was able to save the original lithograph, but the rest had to go. I also used Danish oil on the interior. New handles were added because the originals were gone. This is one of my favorite restorations.
Very unusual trunk and superb restoration!!
